Corporal of the 44th East Essex Regiment

Corporal of the 44th East Essex Regiment

This figure is a detail from the painting The Essex Regiment by W.H. Taylor, showing a Corporal. It shows the crossbelt plate as gold/brass in colour and the device being a star, closer to the design of the current Royal Anglian's! The actual plate design was a garter mounted with a crown and it was made of pewter. The uniform depicted is more inline with what was worn around the mid-1830s - just the shako has been changed.
